Deep Water Marine Tank
The cone-shaped deep tank is designed mainly for three dimensional water scenes, however, many productions also use this tank for surface shooting...water overflows the edge of the tank into a spillway and thus water, sky and horizon appear seamless. Elaborate sets can be constructed and producers treat the tank as any other stage complete with tie-downs and lighting - only this stage is filled with water. Submerged ocean liners, submarines, under-water caves, oil rigs, ship wrecks have all been featured in this huge underwater stage. The rock group Genesis wanted a different effect. Art directors for the music video Congo created a futuristic look by draining the tanks and focusing on the industrial design of all the equipment.
The Deep Tank has an up-to-date sea water filter system which ensures water clarity within the tank for underwater filming.
