MFS Crew
Craftmanship at its best
MFS is not only renowned for its marine facilities and expertise but also for the skills of its craftsmen, building to your specifications almost any imaginable prop or set.
The film “Christopher Colombus: The Discovery” required the construction of three full scale period ships. Whilst the productions grew bigger so did the construction and sfx requirements as with the mega budget film “Cutthroat Island” directed by Renny Harlin, “U900”, “Captain Blackbeard: The Real Pirate Of The Caribbean”, “Der Untergang Der Pamir”, “Die Gustloff” and many more.
Another forte of MFS is its skilled metal and sfx crew. Together with its knowledge in the building of metal sfx constructions, MFS also prides itself in its experience to create a variety of pyro special effects and naturally any form of marine sfx. The wide range of marine sfx machinery can create the wildest of storms using smoke, wind and wave machines, tip tanks, water cannons and rain towers. Ridley Scott utilised this equipment in the surface marine tank to create the hair-raising boat disaster scenes for the high seas adventure “White Squall”.
Scott remarked in the American Cinematographer;
“What we got out of Malta was terrific. It’s very much a studio situation and it’s the best water facility I know of”.
